I think Ren's accent is because Hong Kong was owned by the British at one point. Just a wild speculation, but it might be correct.

Hey, as 4Kids dubs go, this isn't actually that bad. Manages to get away with death, which is something of an achievement. Shame about Ren's accent, though. Changing it to Len is understandable, though, as Ren's true name is Lian, meaning "lotus". Also found out his VA played Link in Hairspray and Bob Gaudio in the Jersey Boys.
