Awesome trailer. Made me buy Akira for a second time !!! Lost the original. Trailers are such an art, so often a trailer is just so much better than the actual film ( not in this case but its still awesome ). Cant believe the animation on show is 20 years old. Holds up as well today as it did then.

Akira is like the Godfather of animation movies. Dark, serious, and bloody. Instead of your typical sweet Disney movie with good guys and happy endings, we have an almost too dark and too graphic epic. Try watching Beauty and The Beast right before watching this. Their both classics but are WORLDS apart.

If I didn't read the manga, why would i say such things? Of course I read the manga! I only read the manga to understand a bit more of what was going on. But, the actual story itself, I believe the anime did a way better job telling us who was akira, what akira did and what impression he had left on the people. But, in the manga, seeing that he was alive and Tetsuo became his "second right-hand man", it was utter crap. At least Tetsuo was more psychotic in the Anime.
