Actually, no..because she, regardless of her background, was always involved in the happenings all over the world..she sang in 5 different languages to support different things - causes, this is just one of them..we should all be citizens of the world in my opinion, right?

Baez is a Spanish (or Hispanic, if you like) family name. I think she has Mexican ancestry and she was born in NJ or NY.
Makes me wonder what about this song?

Beautiful song. Gifted performer.
Nice to see an artist who can perform brilliantly with no lip synch, no band, no big production.
I don't see many performances like this anymore.
